FIREFLY AI IS NOW READY FOR PRIME TIME
Adobe’s powerful generative AI tool, Firefly, is no longer in beta testing and is now available for commercial use. This means that creative professionals can now utilize Firefly to enhance their digital creations. Whether it’s creating unique imagery in Photoshop, experimenting with text effects on the Firefly website, recoloring images in Illustrator, or adding flair to posters and videos made with Adobe Express, Firefly has got you covered.
So, how much does it cost to use Firefly? Well, it depends on your Creative Cloud subscription plan. If you have the full Creative Cloud subscription, which costs $55 per month, you can produce up to 1,000 creations a month with Firefly. If you have a single-app subscription, such as Photoshop or Premiere Pro, at $21 per month, you get 500 creations a month. And if you’re using Adobe Express, the all-purpose mobile app priced at $10 per month, you can use Firefly up to 250 times. Adobe wants to ensure that users don’t feel the need to conserve their usage and can create freely.
But here’s the catch: Adobe will be raising its subscription prices in November by about 9% to 10%. This increase is due to the addition of Firefly and other AI features, as well as the introduction of new tools and apps. The all-apps annual subscription will increase from $55 to $60 per month, and a single-app subscription will go up from $21 to $23 per month. So, if you’re interested in using Firefly, you may want to consider subscribing before the price hike.
Although Firefly has shown some impressive effects, it does have its limitations. As a cloud-based service, Adobe is expected to make continuous improvements to enhance its performance. UBS analyst Karl Keirstead estimates that Adobe will generate $400 to $500 million in new revenue from the price increase in the next fiscal year. However, he wonders if this monetization approach indicates a lack of confidence in a standalone Firefly subscription.
Despite its limitations, Firefly’s generative AI technology has shown great potential, and Adobe is committed to making it even better. In fact, Firefly will be available in Adobe’s Premiere Pro video editing tool later this year. So, if you’re a creative professional looking to add a touch of AI magic to your work, Firefly might be just what you need.
