Revolutionary AI Supercharges Healthcare: Orion Health’s Mind-Blowing Patient Navigator!

Orion Health has unveiled its new digital front door services, which are already being used by 15 million people in Ontario and will soon be available to a wider audience. The platform, called Virtuoso, aims to streamline care and tasks for healthcare workers and reduce reliance on emergency departments. It offers a multichannel interface where patients have a single point of contact with the health system and includes a symptom-assessment tool enhanced with artificial intelligence to guide users to targeted information and advice on available care.

The platform integrates existing technology, such as electronic health records, with patient portals and other systems. It allows users to view their health information and access self-service features. Orion Health believes that digital front door technology can free up time for clinicians by creating tailored self-service features for patients and shifting care to patient homes or community clinics.

The new Virtuoso platform also offers additional healthcare navigation services, including an accredited health knowledge hub, a verified medical library, an accredited health services directory, access to digital health records, translation services, and virtual consultations. It also provides wellness support, appointment booking and scheduling, insurance coverage checks, and payment gateways.

Orion Health faced financial difficulties in 2019 and underwent restructuring to focus on innovation and profitability. The company pivoted to a start-up operation structure and began working on its digital front door offerings. The goal was to create a tailored, community-specific platform for state and territory health departments in Australia.

According to James Rice, Executive Vice President of North America at Orion Health, hospitals around the world are overloaded, and care needs to be provided in locations that make sense for the level of care required. The launch of Virtuoso aims to alleviate the burden on healthcare practitioners and enable patients to take control of their own healthcare.

With the Virtuoso platform, Orion Health hopes to transform the way healthcare is accessed and delivered, allowing patients to be active participants in their own care, and reducing the pressure on healthcare workers. The company believes that digitizing healthcare services and providing self-service features will improve efficiency, enhance patient experience, and enable healthcare workers to focus on the tasks that only they can do.
