Microsoft also revealed plans to develop a tailor-made AI-based solution for Vietnam and emerging markets. Nvidia, a leading AI company, will partner with Vietnamese companies FPT, Viettel, and Vingroup to work on AI projects in the country.
The White House also highlighted significant chip-related investments by U.S. firms in Vietnam. Marvell and Synopsys have plans to build chip design centers, while a new $1.6 billion Amkor factory near Hanoi is set to open in October. Intel, already one of the largest investors in Vietnam, has a $1.5 billion chip-assembly plant in the south, which may be expanded.
Not limited to tech, U.S. conglomerate Honeywell is teaming up with a Vietnamese partner to launch a pilot project for Vietnam’s first battery energy storage system.
The meeting was chaired by U.S. State Secretary Antony Blinken and Vietnam’s investment minister Nguyen Chi Dung. The gathering was then followed by discussions between Biden and Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
