AI veterans and policy bigwigs from across the country united last month to pinpoint new ways to predict mass casualties from 911 data. Sponsored by the San Diego Supercomputer Center, the workshop was a melting pot of groundbreaking ideas and strategies aimed at refining early detection systems for mass casualty events, particularly on school premises.
The brainstorming sessions included 25 participants delving into the technical and organizational hurdles as well as the potential application of advanced AI models to improve 911 response protocols. Understandably, the emphasis was on school safety, including a no-nonsense panel on the sobering lessons post-school shooting tragedies.
