AI is transforming the job search process, and that’s a fact. The use of generative AI is helping jobseekers optimize their résumés, understand their skill sets and apply to jobs more efficiently than ever before. Jeff Doucet, CEO of Toronto-based Thrive Career Wellness Platform, says that companies are increasingly using AI software to automate and drastically decrease the time it takes jobseekers to build their résumé, understand skill sets, and apply to jobs.
How does generative AI do this, you ask? By analyzing résumés to identify skills gaps and offer learning recommendations, as well as making recommendations based on labour-market demand. LinkedIn is jumping on board, too, offering premium members an AI-powered tool that analyzes profiles by highlighting missing skills and suggesting potential contacts who can help with a job search. It can even help craft personalized messages and introductions and prepare for job interviews.
But how can you make the most of AI tools for your job search? Rohan Rajiv, director of project management at LinkedIn, offers some advice. Learn how to maximize AI through LinkedIn Learning, but don’t put all your faith in AI – you still need to remain in the driver’s seat. Always review before hitting send, and evaluate and edit to ensure that your writing is authentic to your voice.
This may all sound miraculous, but it’s also critical that we think about the impact of AI on the job market. By 2030, the skills people need to do their jobs are expected to change by 65%, largely due to AI. So, what do you think? Have you tried using AI tools for your job search?
