IT’S A BURGER ROBOT REVOLUTION! CALIEXPRESS EMPLOYS HI-TECH ROBOT CHEFS!
The kitchen of the future is here, and it’s not in a sci-fi movie! In Pasadena, California, the CaliExpress restaurant is shaking things up with their robotic kitchen staff. The joint is using a grill robot and Flippy, a robot from Miso Robotics, to handle the cooking and frying duties. These robots churn out an impressive amount of grub, including 250 pounds of French fries an hour and about 100 patties cooked every hour by the grill robot. No breaks or day offs needed here!
KEEPING STAFF SAFE AND FOCUSSED
CaliExpress owner Vic Aulakh said that this technology is a game changer and helps to solve the issues of worker shortage and safety. Flippy and the grill robot are perfect for the repetitive and dangerous tasks, which allows the human employees to focus on the important personal touch of customer service. Pop ID’s facial recognition software is also used in the ordering process, helping to keep track of food choices and payments.
BIGGER THAN BURGERS
It’s not just cooking that’s going high-tech at CaliExpress. The restaurant will hire just two employees to put the finishing touches on the meals, a fraction of what is typically needed for a non-automated kitchen, and a major money-saver. But, beyond the jobs that might be lost, there will be new jobs created in maintaining and managing the robotic technology. Will restaurant robots be a force for good or a threat to our livelihoods?
